Ubuntu is a preferred desktop OS, that uses the Linux kernel, but its server release is getting quite popular as well. The main reason is the fact that the OS is very light and it can function on almost any kind of hardware with no issues, utilizing its resources to the fullest. Ubuntu is also very reliable and secure and all Long-Term Support (LTS) versions are supported for a minimum of five years, which guarantees that you should have a protected and dependable software environment on your server all the time. In addition, Ubuntu has one of the largest user communities worldwide, so if you experience any problem or have any question, you'll find plenty of resources on the web. One of the main advantages of this Operating System is that it features thousands of software packages that can be freely modified according to your needs as well as the requirements of the apps that you intend to run, not to mention that you won't have to pay any kind of license fees at all. In comparison, other Operating Systems are paid and their code is not accessible, thus it cannot be changed.

Ubuntu in VPS Servers

With any of our VPS servers, you are able to decide on the Ubuntu OS on the order page. We're aware of the fact that some programs have certain requirements in terms of the Operating System they are installed on, and you are able to select between the 32-bit and the 64-bit release of Ubuntu. In addition, you can select whether your VPS should come with our Hepsia Control Panel or with no Control Panel at all. In the first case, you will receive everything you need pre-installed - MySQL, email server, FTP, etc. software, and you are able to make everything via your online browser, however the root access will be limited; whereas in the second case, you will get Ubuntu and the Apache server software only, which means that you can set up anything freely because of the full root access that you will be given, yet the server management tasks are done using a console. Our system administrators will keep track of your VPS and update the Ubuntu setup on a weekly basis if you add the additional Managed Services package which we offer.

Ubuntu in Dedicated Servers

Ubuntu is among the Operating System options which you will find on our order page if you decide to obtain one of our Linux dedicated servers. We will set up the 32-bit or the 64-bit release, to meet the system requirements of the applications that you'd like to set up on the server. You can also choose the software that will operate on your machine, because we will install only the Apache web server software, so everything else can be custom software of your liking. You can set up the latter without problems by using a Secure Shell console, because you'll receive root-level access and you will get full control over the server. You are free to set up a website hosting Control Panel too and control some things from a graphical interface, as long as it can function on an Ubuntu-driven machine. To make things easier, we also offer a Managed Services upgrade, which, among other things, includes OS updates.
